The new container terminal, which is scheduled to be put into operation in 2017, is designed for doubling the port’s current capacity by adding value, soundness and competitiveness to the future plans for growth in the sector for Chile and South America. With a 725 m berthing line and a depth of 16 m, the port will be able to handle two Super-Post-Panamax ships at the same time and an annual traffic of approximately 1,500,000 TEU.
